Are you guilty of talking on your cell phone while driving?? I have been guilty of this, along with a lot of other people in this city and other cities across Ontario.

On Monday, January 18, 2010, The Oprah Winfrey Show featured guests who had somehow been negatively affected by texting or talking on the cell phone while driving.

Millions of driver's are talking on the cell phone, checking their email, and even texting while they are driving. Although most driver's seem to understand the message not to "drink and drive," they are less aware of the risks of cell phone use while driving.
Many cell phone users don't realizing that by taking their focus off of the road they are just as bad as a drunk driver, and when it comes to texting they're even worse.

After I watched this Oprah show that day I have made a decision NOT to use my cell phone while I am driving. Not only for myself and others on the road, but for my children to know it is wrong and illegal on Ontario!!

SO PLEASE tell Your Family and Friends To Stop Driving While They're On Their Cell Phone!!

yes, I have been guilty of it too! The police will now be issuing tickets starting at $125.00 as this is now a driving offense. Northern Credit Union, like other companies have implemented a policy for all employees that carry mobile devices not to be in use while driving, so now it might not only hit your pocket book, but might get you in trouble at your place of work! Remember...SAFETY FIRST!!
Well, I'm not guilty of this cause I don't have a cell phone or want one. BUT, I have had people infront of me at a red light and when the arrow to go appears, they take up valuable time by being on the phone and not paying attention to the GREEN ARROW. That is just one little pet peeves!!
Drivers do not need the distraction of cell phones or GPS's in their vehicles.
It has been proven over and over again that cell phone use in your car can be an accident waiting to happen.
Personally, I think the banning of cell phones in vehicles is a good thing and maybe the fines will discourage
this.
I have also heard of pedestrians on their cell phones texting or talking, simply walking aimlessly into traffic.

Scary!
I totally agree. Although I have seen people pull off the roads to answer a call in some of the most unsafe places. Not sure what's worse! With all the features available (call display, call answer etc.) there is no reason why they can't let the call go and return it when it is safe. I think GPS units are going to be the next to be banned.
